Purpose
The Opportunity Center Teaching and Learning serves Chemeketa's community of learners by offering all faculty and staff relevant and engaging events that positively affect the quality of our students' education and our interactions with them. Throughout the year the center hosts workshops, seminars, and individual consultations related to teaching, learning and assessment. Recognizing the multiple talents and skills of Chemeketa's own, many of the events hosted by the center draw from the expertise of Chemeketa’s own faculty and staff. Moreover, all of the materials, events and services provided by the center are mindfully and deliberately designed to foster a sense of collaboration, care, innovation, and diversity --- Chemeketa's core values.
In addition to initiating an array of professional development opportunities, the center also lends out a large selection of helpful resources for faculty and staff. Topics include Strategies for Teaching and Learning; Diversity; Personal and Professional Development; Brain-Based Learning; and Skills of Leadership. The Opportunity Center website also provides documents and links to resources intended to assist faculty and staff in matters related to professional development. You are welcome to stop in to browse, pick up a complete list of our services and resources, or just say Hi.
